By decision of the Government of Zenica-Doboj Canton No. 02-38-12166/05 dated 04/13/2005. The registrar committee of the Faculty of Economics was formed in the founding of the University of Zenica, consisting of:

1. prof. Ph.D. Safet Brdarevć, president,
2. prof. Ph.D. Fahrudin Sebic,
3. Esad Delibasic, member and
4. Ajla Džaferović, Bachelor of Laws, secretary.

The task of the Commission was to:

1. adopt the curriculum,
2. adopt a general act on the rules of undergraduate studies,
3. announce a competition and select teachers and associates for teaching subjects of the first and second year of study i
4. propose the number of students for the first year of study.

The commission worked individually and in plenary. She held six sessions. She based her work on the following documents:

1. Law on Higher Education of ZE-DO Canton (Official Gazette of ZE-DO Canton No. 65/05),
2. University Law (Official Gazette ZE-DO Canton No. 06/05),
3. Rulebook on the composition and work of the registrar commission (Sl. SRBiH 18/77),
4. Elaborate on the justification of the establishment of the Faculty of Economics in Zenica,
5. Decision on the formation of the Commission of Registrars of the Faculty of Economics in Zenica i
6. Application of candidates for the competition of teachers and associates.

The Faculty of Economics, as an organizational unit of the University of Zenica, was established on September 12, 2005. year by Decision of the Zenica-Doboj Canton Assembly number: 01-38-25350/05.

In the first generation of undergraduate studies, in the academic year 2005/2006, 239 full-time and full-time self-financing students and 187 part-time students were enrolled. At the Faculty, until the last joint promotion of graduates and masters of the University of Zenica, held on October 19, 2013. year, 549 students graduated.

The first generation of master's postgraduate studies was enrolled in the academic year 2006/2007. year, and the second generation in the academic year 2007/2008. The scientific degree of Master of Science is up to the last joint promotion of graduates and masters of the University of Zenica, held on October 19, 2013. in 12 candidates.

In an effort to modernize the Curriculum and programs as much as possible, and to intensify activities on internationalization and international recognition of diplomas, the Faculty has since the academic year 2009/2010. started with the realization of a one-year master's study. The next generation was enrolled in the academic year 2011/2012, while the third generation of master's studies was enrolled in the current academic year 2013/2014.
