Course content

  1. Economic development strategies: 1) What stimulates economic development: the market, the state and civil society; 2) Theories of economic growth and development; evolution of development theories (measurement of economic development and development decades of the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and XXI century); 3) Strategies of economic development (hypothesis of backwardness, industrialization of agriculture, state and market, import substitution and export orientation, alternative development models);
  2. Financing of economic development: 1) Formation and allocation of capital and economic development; 2) Financing economic development with domestic savings; 3) External sources of financing economic development;
  3. Local economic development: 1) Locations in trouble; 2) Conception of local economic development (horizontal development planning); 3) Cities, the new force of economic development in the 21st century;
  4. Free topics: 1) Challenges and opportunities for economic development on the global stage; 2) Challenges of economic development in the conditions of the duration of the global recession and the Eurocrisis; 3) BiH in the vortex of globalization and global recession.

Objective of the course

  1. Conceptual understanding of the process of strategic elaboration of economic development
  2. Facilitating a "bigger picture" of understanding poverty and development macroeconomic processes and their impact on local communities;
  3. Interdisciplinary knowledge that is particularly important for the strategic reflection of future social processes of dynamic and continuous changes
 

Teaching methods

Teaching is directed through various research processes, among which lectures, seminars, research papers, professional and scientific gatherings, presentation of written works, study of literature and positive legal solutions stand out.

Competences

Activities within the scientific-teaching part are carried out as an introduction to open and unsolved issues of the topic through the activation of knowledge, skills and competences as resources for scientific-research activity. Teaching and ways of testing knowledge are directed through various research processes, among which lectures, seminars, research papers, professional and scientific gatherings, presentation of written works, study of literature and positive legal solutions stand out.
