Doctoral study lasts three study years, or six semesters, and is evaluated with 180 ECTS points. A doctoral student is obliged to finish his doctoral studies and defend his doctoral thesis within six years, counting from the academic year in which he was enrolled in the doctoral studies. Exceptionally, the previous deadline, at the request of the candidate, can be extended for a maximum of one more academic year, if there are justified reasons for the extension, which is decided by the scientific and teaching council of the faculty. If the candidate does not fulfill all obligations within the previously defined deadlines, the procedure for obtaining the scientific degree of Doctor of Science will be suspended by the dean's decision, at the proposal of the Council of Doctoral Studies, whereby the student loses the status of a student.
